(In Dimitra Bouritsa's work, elements of fairy tales, animals and fantastic creatures are combined with common images and established archetypes of the west culture.. Using characteristic symbols and trademarks of ‘exotic’ destinations she attempts an ironic statement about contemporary ethics of developed countries and societies. Women are the main characters. They appear as deities, as mothers, lovers, pin-up girls, fashion icons, as fantasy creatures, as animals or flowers, or simply as themselves. Creating idyllic at first sight sceneries, she is combining issues about women’s role and position through the ages, the very essence of human existence and its occasional absurdity, along with our relationship with nature , the animals as symbols and holy spirits, in a sort of theatrical way. Thus, the viewer can give his own interpretation and stories according to his imagination.)
